Welcome to TomPal: Recipe Manager, a recipe management app that helps you save, scan, organise, and cook recipes in one place (the "App").

This Privacy Policy explains how ASTRONIX LLP ("we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales (Company Number: OC458462) and the operator of TomPal, handles your information when you use our App.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the TomPal: Recipe Manager mobile application and any associated services. We refer to these collectively as our "Services."

2. Who Can Use the App

To access and use the App, you must be at least sixteen (16) years of age, or the minimum age required to provide consent to data processing in your region if different, and must not be prohibited from using the App under any applicable laws.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at support@tompal.app and we will take immediate steps to address it.

3. Account Registration

You may use TomPal without creating an account. If you choose to use the App without an account, your recipes and data are stored locally on your device only. If you delete the App or request deletion of your data, that data will be permanently lost.

You may also register for an account using:

Sign in with Apple (available on Apple devices)
Sign in with Google
Email and password

If you register an account, your recipes, collections, and preferences are linked to your account and can be restored if you log out and log back in. If you request deletion of your account, all associated data will be permanently deleted.

4. Information We Collect

4.1 Account Information

If you choose to register, we collect the information you provide during sign-up, which may include your name, email address, and profile information passed from Apple or Google depending on the method you choose.

4.2 Recipe Content

When you use TomPal, you may submit content including:

Imported recipe URLs — links from social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest) or websites that you choose to import
Screenshots and images — photos of recipes, cookbook pages, or recipe cards that you upload via your camera or photo gallery
Pasted or typed text — recipes you paste or write manually

This content is sent to our servers and processed by third-party AI services (described in Section 5) in order to extract and structure recipe data for you.

4.3 Authentication Data

If you register using email and password, we store your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. If you register using Apple or Google, we receive a user identifier and, depending on your settings, your name and email address from those services.

4.4 Device and Technical Data

We collect limited technical information for the purpose of crash reporting and app stability, including device type, operating system version, and error logs. This is handled via Firebase Crashlytics (see Section 5).

4.5 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

Location data
Payment card details (handled directly by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat — see Section 6)
Microphone or audio data
Contacts

5. Third-Party Services We Use

We use the following third-party providers. By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by these services in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

5.1 Inception Labs

We use services provided by Inception Labs, Inc.

5.2 Google Gemini

We use services provided by Google LLC.

5.3 fal.ai

We use services provided by fal.ai.

5.4 Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google LLC.

5.5 Apple / Google

We use services provided by Apple Inc. and Google LLC. We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password.

5.6 RevenueCat

We use services provided by RevenueCat. We do not have access to your payment card details.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and operate the App, including processing recipe imports and scans
Authenticate your account and restore your data when you log in
Monitor and fix crashes and technical issues via Firebase Crashlytics
Process and manage your subscription via RevenueCat
Respond to your support requests
Comply with our legal obligations

7. Device Permissions

TomPal may request the following device permissions:

Camera — used when you choose to scan a recipe by taking a photo
Photo library / gallery — used when you choose to upload a screenshot or image of a recipe
Notifications — used to send you optional reminders, such as meal planning notifications (this feature may be introduced in a future update)

You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time through your device's settings. Revoking a permission will prevent the corresponding feature from working but will not otherwise affect your use of the App.

8. Important Notice: Nutritional, Allergen, and Ingredient Information

TomPal uses AI to extract and analyse recipe content, including ingredients, calorie counts, nutritional values, macros, and allergen details. This information is generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.

We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any nutritional, calorie, ingredient, or allergen information displayed in the App. AI models can misread sources or fail to detect allergens and ingredients present in a recipe.

Do not rely on the App as your sole source of allergen or nutritional information, especially if you or anyone you are cooking for has a food allergy, intolerance, dietary restriction, or medical condition. Always verify this information independently before preparing or consuming any recipe.

9. Data Storage and Security

Your account data and recipes are stored on our servers, which use industry-standard security measures. We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information and associated recipe data within a reasonable period, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.

If you use the App without an account, your data is stored only on your device and we have no ability to recover it once deleted.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

Right of access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Right to rectification — to request correction of inaccurate personal data
Right to erasure — to request deletion of your personal data
Right to restriction — to request that we limit how we process your data
Right to data portability — to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
Right to object — to object to certain types of processing
Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent

If you are located in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, these rights are provided under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR respectively. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@tompal.app.

11. International Data Transfers

Our third-party service providers may process your data outside of the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure your data remains protected in accordance with applicable law.

12. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you directly inside the App the next time you open it. You will be asked to review and agree to the updated policy before continuing to use the App. If you do not agree to the updated policy, you may stop using the App and request deletion of your data by contacting us at support@tompal.app.

We also update the effective date at the top of this document whenever changes are made.
